Where do I install the software i.e. Payment Client/Virtual Payment Client?

The Payment Client must be installed on the server where the website or other application is being hosted. The Virtual Payment must be integrated to the server where the website or other application is being hosted.

Is it easy to integrate?

This will greatly depend on your processing requirements, however, most eCommerce merchants will require a developer to setup a link between your website or payment application and the TNS Payment Gateway. The software, technical documentation and user guides are downloadable from our support website which you are granted access to following execution of your services agreement. The installation of the Payment Client is a simple ‘installshield’ process. Integration examples are also provided according to your chosen interfaces. Our expert support staff assist you throughout your integration process.

What is the difference between SSL and 2 Party?

SSL (Secure Socket Layer) is a 3 party model which uses the SSL protocol to provide secure transmission of sensitive data between a customer’s web browser and our payment server. The card details for example are entered directly to the Payment Server therefore the merchant does not carry the responsibility of storing the credit card details at their site.

The 2 party model is whereby the customer pays for goods or services by providing their payment details (for e.g. card number) directly to the Merchant or on the Merchant’s site.

Do I need a server side certificate?

If you choose to use the 2 party model (where the cardholder enters their card details on your branded payment page) you will need to obtain a server certificate. This can be purchased from VeriSign or any organisation that sells SSL certificates.

How secure is TNS’ payment technology?

In addition to TNS being PCI DSS compliant, TNS uses industry standard 128 bit SSL security in all data transmission. The cardholder’s credit card details are secured on our servers by our physical, network and software security. The padlock that appears on the bottom of the payment pages signals that the cardholder has entered a secure site. If you choose to brand your own payment page (2 party), you have to ensure security on your payment page/s on your server/s.

If the funds are not deposited into my bank account, who do I contact?

You can contact the TNS' Merchant Services Support Team on 1300 130 150 for initial investigation, however you may be redirected to contact your bank to resolve where the missing funds are.

How do I know if a transaction approved or declined?

You will receive a message advising ‘Transaction Approved’ or ‘Transaction Declined’. If you view the transactions in Merchant Administration the Response Code ‘0’ = approved transaction and the Response Codes 1 to 8 = declined transaction.
More details are available in our user and integration manuals.

Are transactions processed in real-time?

Yes, normally within 2 to 3 seconds and the result of an approved or declined response will be received from the cardholder’s issuing bank.

Can I view my transactions that have been processed through the Payment Gateway?

Yes, TNS provide you with website access to a portal called Merchant Administration. Through this portal, you can search, view, and refund transactions.

How do I reconcile using the reports you provide?

First make sure there are no transactions in the same batch on the report for the day before. Then sort by batch date, response, type and collate amounts by batch date, all transactions that have response = ‘0’ and type = ‘purchase’ minus response = “0” and type = “refund”.

On Merchant Administration, can I setup multiple users?

Yes. We assign you an Administrator user, who is responsible for establishing and managing as many users as you need. Further information is available in our Merchant Administration user guide.
